This place is amazing!! Everything is made from scratch and I wanted it all. We went for the salad plate and it was divine - I only wish I had been brave enough to fill my plate higher (you help yourself) as it was all so delicious! The chef really knows food, everything worked beautifully together. And it was all healthy and wholesome, lots of veg and grains. They were clear about what I would be able to have with my allergy. The cakes looked divine too - I tried to come back to get one but they were closed. My Mum didn’t like her coconut latte but my oat flat white was great. The place is large but cosy and decorated well, and the staff are friendly. Everything is gluten free and lots of vegan options. It was my first visit but definitely will not be my last.

Flat white and honey cake, what a great combination. Coffee is very well crafted and perfect temperature. Back once again coffee and ginger loaf are exceptional. The service is fantastic too. Such a lovely space to spend time in.

They absolutely know their coffee and their cakes are genuinely “home” made. Nice seating and the couple genuinely want you to have a good experience. We felt reasonably priced. Won’t be disappointed.

Flavoursome homemade healthy food and a friendly welcome await you in this cosy cafe. The cannellini beans in a rich tomato sauce on top of a cheese scone was a warming and tasty lunch (with an extra side of cheese of course!) Lots of salad options alongside a good selection of bakes and treats, so also a perfect place for a catch-up over coffee and cake

Attending a meeting at this lovely café today, I couldn’t have been more impressed. Sam and Stu run the Larder with professionalism & a clear love of healthy but delicious food. The atmosphere is very relaxed, with a nice vibe created by interesting art works, soothing music, and thoughtful decor. The clientele was varied, and relaxed, and it appeared that many are already regulars. The food is unique in Barnstaple, with a wide ranging salad plate (you choose the size plate then load it with the different salad choices), interesting and droolsome snacks and lunches/brunches, and seriously the best cake I’ve eaten in North Devon (orange and almond cake). Though I was attending a meeting, I can see why clubs choose to meet here, and lone diners, too. It feels like a really inclusive, comfortable space. Sam and Stu were very flexible and welcoming, and supported the needs of my table. This is exactly the sort of establishment Barnstaple needed - high quality food, with healthy, interesting flavours, yet the indulgent cakes, too. There’s a big range of coffees and teas. And the ambience, and staff, are neurodivergent-friendly. There is one small step for wheelchairs users, a photograph is included for information on this. This is the ideal place for lone diners, families, or meetings. We ordered lots - the salads, the ploughmans, the orange & almond cake, the nut loaf, the oear and chocolate cake, a fruity smoothie, Earl Grey, and English Breakfast tea and really loved it all. The best thing of all? It didn’t feel unhealthy, there was zero guilt attached, and my Zoe didn’t go above 7!! We highly recommend this delightful café and are excited to have such a fresh choice in North Devon. It really is a feel-good larder.

I've been meaning to check this place out for a while, and am so glad I did today. Best coffee I've had for a long time with amazing service and a friendly welcoming ambience. A great spot to meet up with friends, and they have a variety of freshly baked treats, and healthy food options with their daily salad bar. Will definite be back!

The best speciality coffee in Barnstaple, no doubt whatsoever! Coming from a speciality coffee background myself, I am just a tiny bit particular about what I pay for in the fascinating world of coffee. Stu does not disappoint with his beautiful drinks and Sam is just spot on with her bakes! Wonderful salad bar too!! Definitely my favourite coffee+cake haunt in Barnstaple, hands down.
